Wednesday Night Bible Study 1 Chronicles 102523

Today we are going to be heading back into the Book of 1 Chronicles. How far we will get I am not sure, but we will start with Chapter 21.

Today, we will be looking at one of the few places in 1 Chronicles, where the author will point out a blatant sin by David. It is not the sin with Bathsheeba, or Uriah. His sin is numbering the tribes. There will be severe consequences for David's pride that will affect all of Israel.

We are going to see an angel of the Lord coming down with a sword drawn, ready to destroy Jerusalem. David's contrition, sacrifices, and God's mercy will hold off this angel at the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. It is here where David will make the sacrifices and here where the Temple will be built.

We will also see David's charge to Solomon to build the temple, after David amassed 5-8 billion dollars worth of building materials and had assembled the needed craftsmen. After this we will get to the lists of Levites, priests, and musicians.
