Deuteronomy 7&8 010423
Well, it's 2023, time to put those resolutions into action. First on the list-start attending a bible study.
Tonight, we are going to be heading back into Deuteronomy. We will be starting with the 7th Chapter and dabbling in the 8th Chapter.
In our text tonight we are going to see Moses continuing his pep talk to the Israelites that are about to enter the promised land. In Chapter 7 Moses is going to point out a few things:
- The Lord will clear the way for the Israelites to defeat their enemies.
-The Israelites were to utterly destroy the 7 "ite" nations when they entered the land. No treatise, no mercy, and no intermarrying.
-God loved the Israelites and chose them out of all the people of the earth. They were to be holy and a special treasure to the Lord.
- The Israelites were to utterly destroy the idols and alters of the heathen nations.
And don't get me started on hornets. Why in the world did God create these pests?
In Chapter 8 we are going to see some life changing/perspective changing text.
Have you ever wondered why God does not just remove the difficulties and trials from your life? He could at least hit the fast forward button or beam us from our trials to the other side like in Star Trek. I mean after all He is God--He could do it. If you ever asked this question, come tonight because we are going to see some answers to this question from our text.
6 “For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. 7 It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples, 8 but it is because the Lord loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
