2 Chronicles 11-14 010324

Jan 3, 2024    David Clark

Tonight, we are going to be heading back into the Book of 2nd Chronicles.

There is going to be a lot going on in our text tonight. We are going to see:

Rehoboam preparing to go to war with Jeroboam.

Jeroboam replacing the Levites in the Southern Kingdom and moving to idol worship.

Shishak of Egypt invading the Southern Kingdom and pillaging the treasures in the House of the Lord.

Rehoboam's death and Abijah reigning in the Southern Kingdom.

Abijah routing Jeroboam in war with the help of the Lord.

Abijah's death and Asa reigning in the Southern Kingdom.

Asa's returning to the Lord and demanding the people return to the Lord.

Ethiopia waging war against the Southern Kingdom with a million-man army and being utterly obliterated by a much smaller force.

There are a lot of lessons in our text tonight. We are going to be talking about overcoming familial cycles of sin. How the Lord does not concern Himself with strategic advantage or numerical supremacy of our enemies. How we are called to stand firm and speak Truth, even when it is dangerous. We will discuss Satan's, often successful, plan of getting us to remember the "good old days" with jaded glasses.

But Wait!!...there's still so much more.
