1 Timothy 4:7-16

I hope everyone comes warmed up for tomorrow, because Paul will be taking us to the gym.

We are going to be finishing off the 4th chapter of 1st Timothy, and the focus will be on spiritual discipline and exercise.

Like physical exercise, spiritual exercise takes intentionality and some sweat equity. It takes discipline and commitment. Also like physical exercise, the results of an intentional, committed, and disciplined spiritual life will be evident.

However, unlike physical exercise, spiritual exercise has benefits beyond this life. Physical exercise is a good thing but it is temporary; it is effective only as long as we are wearing these earth suits.

Paul will finish off the chapter by providing a staccato of exhortations to Timothy about how he is to conduct his life and ministry, and where he should be focusing his time.
