Philippians 2:9-13

Jan 14, 2024    David Clark

This morning we are heading back into the 2nd Chapter in the Book of Philippians.

Paul is going to start out by talking about the rewards Jesus received for His sacrifice, his obedience and his humility.

After this, we will look at Paul's encouragement to the church in Philippi, and to us, to put into practice the humility and other centered Christian walk that he has previously encouraged us to live.

We will close out the morning by looking at some very misunderstood and misinterpreted scriptures found in 2 Philippians 12

12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,

Folks throughout the years have read this to mean that we need to earn our salvation through our own good works. That Christians should live in fear that the atoning work of Christ on the cross is not enough to save us.

We will unpack what this verse really means for us today as Christians.
