1 Timothy 6:11-21
This morning we will be closing out the 6th chapter, and the Book. of 1st Timothy.
We also have five baptisms to start the service, so make sure that you come and cheer on the newest members of the family of God.
This morning Paul will be writing to Timothy and us to: flee, pursue, fight, and guard.
These commands seem to be a bit counterintuitive at first glance but Paul is going to remind us that we are all in a war. This spiritual war that we are all in, because we have enlisted in the Lord's Army, will mean that each battle will have its own set of rules of engagement. Sometimes we will need to flee, sometimes we will need to fight. Sometimes we will need to guard, and we will always need to pursue righteousness.
The good news is that we know how this battle will end. We know that as Christians, we will stand victorious with our Lord and Savior when the dust has settled. The prize for our faithfulness and righteousness will be eternal life with our Lord and Savior in heaven forever, and ever-Amen.
