1 Timothy 3:8-16 063024

Sunday, we will be finishing off the 3rd Chapter of the Book of 1 Timothy. Paul has been talking about the proper way the church should function and tomorrow morning we'll be learning about the role of deacons.

The first deacons were chosen in Acts 6, to help with the daily distribution of goods to the widows in the early church. And many of those chosen to be deacons did some amazing and miraculous things in serving the Lord. However, the word "deacon" simply means "servant". So, while there is a positional role entitled "deacon" that helps support the elders; the broader picture of a deacon is anyone who serves in the church.

At CCG we don't have positions in the church with the title "deacon", but we do have folks that help support the elders, and lots of folks that help serve within the church. I am so thankful for the many folks that serve at CCG. We would not be able to operate effectively without folks that help support and serve the Lord, and the other members of the church, through their gifts and talents.
