Matthew 28:11-20 Easter 041622

Apr 17, 2022    David Clark

In our text tomorrow we will see that Jesus keeps His word. He told the disciples, on more than one occasion, that He would have to die but on the third day He would arise; and that's exactly what He did.

It is Easter, and we know that on Friday it was a day of sorrow as we remembered the painful death that Jesus endured in the name of love. However, today is a day of celebration. A day when we remember that the grave could not hold Him and death could not defeat Him. Jesus arose, demonstrating that the sacrifice was acceptable to the Father. Therefore, giving us forgiveness, redemption and a new life in Christ. It is a day that reminds us that Jesus keeps HIs word, which reinforces our hope and assurance that when He told us that one day He is coming back to get us, then we can take that to the bank.

5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he[a] lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you”(Matthew 28:5-7).
