2 Timothy 1:1-7

This morning we will be starting a new Book in the Bible. As you all know we have been walking through the letters of Paul, in a somewhat chronological order, and now we come to the last letter from Paul, 2nd Timothy. At least it is the last one that most scholars agree was written by Paul.

In 2nd Timothy we are going to be walking through an extremely emotional letter. Paul is in prison and he knows that his time on this earth is short. 

Paul is going to provide some encouragement and instructions to Timothy, who had been Paul's faithful companion for about 15 years. Paul is bassing on the batton and so this letter is dripping with high emotions and urgency.

This morning we will read how Paul acknowledges Timothy's faith, as well as the faith of his mother and grandmother; and he will encourage Timothy to use his gifts with confidence, power. love and self control.
