1 Timothy 1:5-11

May 12, 2024    David Clark

This morning we are heading back into 1 Timothy 1. Paul will be sharing with Timothy, and us, that the aim of his instructions to Timothy is love. This bleeds over to our daily activities. It gets to the heart of what our motivation should be in interacting with this fallen world, and also with our fellow brother's and sister's in Christ. If love is not the motivation for our witness then we are falling short of fulfilling the Commandments.

Paul will then turn his attention to addressing the false teachers that had snuck into the church in Ephesus and were teaching false doctrine. These false teachers were not motivated by love, but by self-centeredness. They wanted to be seen as wise, and held in reverence.

We will then finish our section of Scripture by talking about the Law. The Law has been a source of contention for Christians, and other faiths. We will look at the importance of the Law, and its purpose.
