Matthew 6:19-34
This morning we will be finishing off the 6th chapter in the Gospel of Matthew.
Have you ever had two bosses? I have, and it is a tough row to plow. Especially when the two bosses have different philosophies on leadership, and when they each have different priorities that compete with one another.
In our text this morning Jesus will be addressing trying to have two bosses. He will be teaching us where our allegiance and priorities should fall when it comes to this life. In this life the world, and culture has a "Get what you can, while you can" philosophy. The focus of this culture is on immediate gratification and comfort, which will fade quickly.
However, Our Lord commands us to love, sacrifice, to remain obedient, and to bring Him glory through our lives. When we follow His commands we are sending our rewards ahead to Heaven where they will not rot or rust, and last an eternity.
In our text, Jesus will also be addressing anxiety and worry, which is a major problem in our unstable and unpredictable world. He will be teaching us how a different perspective can help us reduce and remove anxiety and worry in our lives.
