Philippians 1 12/17/23

Today we will be finishing off the 1st Chapter in the Book of Philippians.

Paul is going to be reminding us that this world is not our home. As citizens of Heaven, we have certain responsibilities and expectations as a Christian. Although we are living in this world, we are not of this world but citizens of Heaven.

Paul will share with us that as Christians we are to:

Live in a manner worthy of our calling

Stand firm in one Spirit

Be of one mind

Strive together for the Gospel

Not be frightened of our opponents.

Then Paul will close out the chapter by telling us that suffering for Christ is a privilege. Which is extremely counter-intuitive to most humans. We like comfort, and as children of God, many expect that our lives will be easier and not involve much suffering.However, as we can read in the life of Paul, suffering is certainly part of what we can expect as Christains in a world full of darkness.
