Deuteronomy 16 17 022223
Today we will be looking at the 16th and 17th Chapter of Deuteronomy.
We will be revisiting the feasts, or at least three of them, that the Israelites were to observe. We will see a common theme throughout these three feasts and that is that rejoicing is always to be a part of the feasts.
Each of these were reminders to the Israelites about the goodness of God and His hand of provision and blessing. For us we can view them as shadows of things to come. However, we can still learn from these feasts as it pertains to our worship today. We are to rejoice in our gatherings and worship of the Lord.
In Chapter 18 we are going to revisit what the Israelites were to do if someone started worshipping idols. Next we will see how the Israelites handled disputes and legal concerns. They were to appoint judges to handle disputes, and if the judges were not able to determine the case it was to be brought before the priests and Levites.
Then we will close out with the appointment of Kings. Here we will see the most specific requirements of choosing Kings in the bible.
What were those requirements?
Did the Israelites always follow these requirements?
Why would the Israelites need a king, if they had God as their leader?
