2 Chronicles 30-32

Feb 21, 2024    David Clark

Tonight we are heading back into 2 Chronicles, starting with the 30th Chapter.

Tonight it will be all about King Hezekiah. He started out well, but like so many of the kings, he ended up messing up at the end of his reign.

We will start the night reading about Hezekiah inviting all of Israel and Judah to a Passover celebration. He will send out runners throughout the land to invite the people to, once again, celebrate this important festival. However, many of the people would mock and scorn the messengers. They had stopped following the Lord and were stiff necked like their fathers.

However, the folks that did come, had a massive celebration that lasted well beyond the required celebration. There was real revival happening and it looked like things were turning around. That's when the Assyrians decided to attack Jerusalem.

We are going to see an Angel of the Lord destroy a numerically overwhelming army, saving Jerusalem by miraculous means. We will briefly discuss Hezekiah's miraculous healing, in which the Lord would add 15 years to his life. Unfortunately, Hezekiah would squander that time and the wrath of the Lord would eventually come upon Judah because of Hezekiah's pride.
