2 Chronicles 112923

Nov 29, 2023    David Clark

Today we are heading back into the Book of 2 Chronicles. The last time we met we read about the completion of the Temple and how a cloud filled the Temple, and how it was so thick that the priests could not do their work, because the glory of the Lord filled the House of the Lord.

Today we are going to see a continuation of the completion of the Temple. We will see Solomon blessing the people, and praying a prayer of dedication that appealed to the mercy of God and His forgiveness.

In Chapter 7 we will read about the huge amount of sacrifices that were made at the Temple dedication, so many they had to use an additional altar. We will read how fire came down from heaven and consumed the sacrifices, demonstrating the approval of the Temple and the sacrifices.

In Chapter 7 the Lord will answer Solomon's previous prayer and we will get to the familiar verse often quoted at prayer services.

14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
