Deuteronomy 31-32 Inbox

May 10, 2023    David Clark

Today we are going to be heading back into the Book of Deuteronomy starting with chapter 31.

Moses is really close to the end of his journey. He is 120 years old and he is told by the Lord to basically get his things in order because he does not have long.

The Lord is going to tell Moses to commission Joshua as the next leader of the Israelites. At the commissioning ceremony the Tent of Meetings is filled with a pillar of cloud and the Lord speaks to Moses and Joshua. However, this commissioning ceremony was probably not at all what Moses or Joshua expected. It is definitely a hum dinger, but not in a good way.

Then we will read part of the Song of Moses. A Top 10 hit for the Israelites to learn and sing. This song is not going to be country, pop, R&B, Techno, Screamo, or Metal. This song is going to start out as a sad song and then finish with hope.

Why is the commissioning ceremony of Joshua a hum dinger?

How is Moses even able to get around at 120?

Why does Joshua have to be told to be strong and courageous?
