Today we are going to be starting the 11th Chapter in the Gospel of Mark Then we will close the service by taking communion together as a family..

The 11th chapter marks a change from Jesus as "servant", to Jesus as the "suffering servant".

In our text we have seen that Jesus has been marching to the cross. He is heading towards Jerusalem where He will be betrayed, imprisoned, beaten, and crucified.

The beginning of the 11th chapter we will see Jesus entering Jerusalem during Passover. The event that many would call the "Triumphal Entry". This event is when Jesus would be recognized, and hailed as the Messiah, the coming King all of Israel has been waiting for.

We will then look at a very unique and peculiar event in which Jesus curses a fig tree for not bearing fruit. We will see that this cursing was not just an abstract thing, but a symbolic foreshadowing and teachable moment for the disciples.
