073023 Mark 12

Jul 30, 2023    David Clark

Today we are going to be finishing off the 12th Chapter in the Gospel of Mark, and dipping our toes into the 13th Chapter.

We are going to see Jesus turn the tables on all the questions He has been getting from the Scribes, Pharisees, Herodians, and Sadducees and He is going to ask how King David could call the Messiah "Lord" if He is also the "Son of David"? Not a lot of fathers that I am aware of call their son "Lord".

Next, Jesus is going to provide a warning against the Scribes. These were the teachers, the scholars of Scripture, and they made sure that everyone knew that they were kind of a big deal. Jesus is going to provide some much needed condemnation against self-aggrandizing.

Next, we are going to see Jesus address the widow's offering. She gave out of her poverty and Jesus made sure the disciples understood the difference between giving from your abundance and giving sacrificially.

Finally, we will close out with some prophecy about the destruction of the Temple.
