Mark 11 1-12 040123

Apr 2, 2023    David Clark

Our text is some of my most favorite texts. It is one of the rare times that Jesus is hailed as the coming Messiah. Throughout Jesus ministry He is constantly being rejected and mocked and misunderstood. However, in our text tomorrow morning we will see Israel finally praising and accepting Jesus as the Messiah.

Although the lips of the people that will be praising Jesus on Palm Sunday, will be the same ones that will cry out "crucify Him" on Friday, for that one brief moment Jesus received the praise He was more than due.

7 They *brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it; and He sat on it. 8 And many spread their coats in the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields. 9 Those who went in front and those who followed were shouting:

“Hosanna!

Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord;

10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David;

Hosanna in the highest!”
