Mark 4 21-41 020523

Feb 5, 2023    David Clark

We will be finishing off the 4th Chapter of the Gospel of Mark.

We will be reading three more parables and the miraculous calming of the sea. Jesus is not going to unpack the parables tomorrow, so we need to make sure that we have understood the previous Parable of the Sower, from last week, to understand a couple of the parables in our text.

In two of the parables Jesus is going to be helping us understand our role as Christins being light bearers and seed sowers.

In the miraculous calming of the sea, we are going to see the importance of relying on Jesus and the role faith plays amidst our trials and tribulations in this world.

The third parable, of the mustard seed, is one that has had some interesting translations by scholars. One translation sees the parable as a beautiful picture of rest and redemption. The other viewpoint is pretty much the opposite.

Which translation of the parable of the mustard seed is the translation that the majority of the scholars believe is the most probable?
